Neither party gained seats in this election, keeping the number of seats in the House the same as in the last election, and resulting in the Democrats retaining their majority.
As of 2024, this election was the last election where the Tennessee Democratic Party held their majority in the House, along with being Jimmy Naifeh's final two years as Speaker. Since 2008, Republicans have held a majority that would later turn into a supermajority government prior to the 2012 election.[1][2]
